This year’s International Women’s Day celebration at our offices was nothing short of inspiring! Under the theme "Empowering Women and the Girl Child in Shaping a Digital Future," we gathered to honour the remarkable contributions of women in the digital space and discuss ways to bridge the gender gap in technology.
We were privileged to host Dr. E. Mupambwa, who delivered an insightful presentation on bridging the gender digital divide. Her session shed light on the importance of equipping women and girls with the necessary digital skills and opportunities to thrive in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
Adding to the empowerment journey, Mrs. T. Masimirembwa captivated the audience with her discussion on entrepreneurial mindset, holistic growth, diversity and striking a balance. She emphasized the importance of resilience, innovation, and self-development in navigating the modern business world.
One of the key highlights of the event was our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative the DIGICHAMP, "Promoting Digital Literacy in Primary and Secondary Schools in Zimbabwe," presented by Fungai Ndemera. This initiative is dedicated to equipping schools, and students, with essential digital skills that will empower them to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world. By fostering digital literacy from an early age, we are shaping a future where no child is left behind in the digital revolution.
In today’s fast-evolving digital world, digital literacy has become an essential skill for education, employment, and economic empowerment. As Zimbabwe moves toward a more technology-driven future, equipping young learners with digital skills is no longer optional, it is a necessity. This aligns seamlessly with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s vision:
"Our vision is of united and well-educated Zimbabweans with Unhu/Ubuntu who are patriotic, balanced, competitive, and self-reliant."
By integrating digital literacy programs into the education system, we can nurture a generation of patriotic, well-rounded, and competitive Zimbabweans who can thrive in both local and global economies.
The event was a powerful reminder that when women and girls are empowered with digital knowledge and entrepreneurial skills, they unlock endless opportunities for growth, innovation, and leadership.
A heartfelt thank you to all the incredible women who joined us, shared their insights, and made this celebration a success! Together, we continue to champion a future where women and girls play a leading role in shaping the digital economy.
